A motorcyclist remains in serious condition after a collision with a car last night, police said.

A spokesman said officers were called to Middle Road in Warwick at about 8pm after reports of a collision.

It appeared that a motorcycle and a car were travelling in opposite directions when they collided.

Police found the rider, a 58-year-old man, unresponsive and suffering from head and facial injuries.

EMTs and members of the Bermuda Fire and Rescue Service assisted the man before he was transported to King Edward VII Memorial Hospital.

The spokesman said that, at last check, he was still receiving treatment for his injuries, which have been deemed serious.

The driver and passengers of the car did not report any injuries.

The section of road was closed for about three hours while officers processed the scene.

The spokesman thanked the public for their patience and said that an investigation into the incident was now under way.
