Two injured in crash that takes out barrier wall in Pembroke
Motorists sustained injuries and property was damaged yesterday morning after a crash on North Shore Road in Pembroke.
Police said a car hit a barrier wall and gate across from Inghams Drive at about 8.30am resulting in their damage.
A family across the street confirmed it was on part of their property and that they were assisting police with their inquiries.
A spokesman for the Bermuda Police Service said today that the car involved was being driven in the eastbound lane of North Shore Road when it crashed into a wall, near the junction with Inghams Drive.
He added: “The driver, understood to be a 24-year-old Pembroke woman, was hurt, as well as a passenger, understood to be a 46-year-old Pembroke man.
“Apparently both were transported to King Edward VII Memorial Hospital via ambulance for medical assessment and later discharged.
“Any witnesses are encouraged to call 211 at the earliest opportunity.”
A member of the family whose property was damaged said: “Somebody’s going to have to pay for this.”
Allen White, 54, who lives next to the crash site, was in his room when he heard a loud bang that he mistook for thunder.
He added: “I thought it was about to rain. Then I heard people down there talking, so that’s when I peeked out the window and saw the car.”
Mr White said a man and a woman emerged from the vehicle, limping but apparently not seriously injured.
Police and the fire department arrived to remove the car, which Mr White said was damaged.
