Serious collision reported in Southampton

A serious collision involving two motorcycles and potentially a taxi on Middle Road, Southampton, in the vicinity of Granaway Heights has been reported by police.

The crash occurred at about 6.20pm last night.

Early information suggested that the motorcycles were travelling in opposite directions when they collided.

The taxi believed to be involved left the scene before police arrived.

A spokeswoman said: “One of the riders is believed to have sustained a serious leg injury, while the other motorcyclist is reported to have suffered less serious injuries.

“Both individuals were attended to at the scene by emergency personnel and transported to King Edward VII Memorial Hospital for treatment.”

Police were still processing the scene at 7.30pm, with traffic diversions in place.

Anyone who may have witnessed the crash or who has information was asked to contact police on 211.
