Motorist injured in Southampton collision

A motorist was taken to hospital last night following a two vehicle collision in Southampton, the police said.

A spokeswoman said around 10.20pm, officers and other first responders were dispatched to a report of the collision which involved a car and a motorcycle on Middle Road in the area of Evans Bay in Southampton.

Details surrounding the collision were limited and the roadway was said to be currently completely impassable owing to significant wreckage and debris from a nearby natural stone wall.

The spokeswoman said: “The driver of the car was transported to King Edward VII Memorial Hospital for treatment of unknown injuries.

“The motorcycle rider was not injured in the incident. Traffic is at a complete standstill in the area and will remain so until the scene can be safely cleared.”
