Lane closures expected from tomorrow

Roads in four different parishes will be limited starting this month, the Ministry of Public Works and Environment announced.

A spokesman said there will be no through access along Orange Valley Road, Devonshire, between Middle Road to Parsons Lane, to facilitate pull hole and paving works, from Saturday to Wednesday.

Access will be restricted to residents and wholesale Butterfield & Vallis warehouse traffic. Drivers can detour route via Parsons Lane from Middle Road to access Jubilee Road.

Milling and paving is set for Orange Valley Road’s junction with Parsons Lane to Middle Road between January 5 and 19 between 7am and 6pm daily. Only area residents will be granted access via Parsons Lane during this time.

In Southampton, a stretch of Middle Road, from the junction with Benevides Lane to Industrial Park Road, will be reduced to one lane for trenching from 7am to 6pm from Monday. It is expected to finish by January 10.

Belco trenching will resume from Middle Road, near Sea Swept Farms to the Railway Trail’s entrance with High Point Lane, starting January 10.

The section of works is likely to continue until the spring, when trenching will extend west along the Railway Trail until the junction with Whale Bay Road. The contractor will grant access to private driveways.

Work will continue on Middle Road to the junction with Evans Bay Road. The project is expected to be done by July, with work on weekdays from 7.30am to 6pm.

In Smith’s, North Shore Road by the Bermuda Aquarium, Museum and Zoo will be reduced to one lane from Tuesday until January 12.

Paving will take place between 7am and 6pm.

Crews will move into Pembroke this month as the eastbound lane of Happy Valley Road near King Street will be closed to traffic from January 26 for a wall repair, with work from 7am to 5pm until February 16.
