Two-hour emergency lane closure on Flatts Hill

Drivers headed east on Middle Road on Flatts Hill in Smith’s were advised at 5pm to consider detours, with the eastbound lane to be closed until at least 7pm.

The Ministry of Public Works said paving works, which resulted in the road surface being milled today, had to be completed this evening.

The closure is in effect between the Belco substation and the North Shore Road junction. Ministry staff will direct traffic with signs, but drivers should expect delays.

Eastbound drivers can exit Middle Road on Store Hill and head east on North Shore Road — or motorists coming from Hamilton can take South Road to Harrington Sound Road and continue east.

The ministry apologised for any inconvenience. Queries can be directed to the ministry principal highways engineer, Tina Beer-Searle, at 501-3044.
