Motorists were urged to steer away from Verdmont Road this evening as paving works continue near the junction with Hermitage Road in Smith’s.

A spokesman for the Ministry of Public Works and Environment said that a single lane closure was in effect today until 6pm, with traffic controls in place.

He added: “As work continues into the evening period and during the afternoon rush hour, delays are expected in the area.

“Motorists are encouraged to use Middle Road or South Road as alternate routes to avoid congestion near the work site.

“The ministry thanks the public for its patience and co-operation while these paving works are carried out.”
