The ferry service between Hamilton and Rockaway in Southampton is almost half empty, the Transport Minister admitted yesterday.
The ferries have room for 112 more passengers, or 45 per cent of their capacity, on a daily basis, Owen Darrell said as he urged West End commuters to abandon their cars and make use of the vessels.
He said: “This route remains one of the safest, fastest and most scenic ways to travel into the City of Hamilton.
“It consistently reduces travel time, avoids road congestion entirely and provides a calm, predictable start and end to the work day.”
He added that the ferry also supported the Government’s goal of reducing carbon emissions by cutting road traffic.
