Holiday weekend to come with impact on buses, roads
Several planned events and road works will affect traffic in three separate parishes starting on Saturday.
North Shore Road, from Berkeley Road to Spanish Point Road, will be closed to all traffic during the Wave Concert at Admiralty House Park tomorrow.
Motorists should detour via St John’s Road and Berkeley Road during the closure between 10am and 1pm, but residential and local access will be permitted and concert management will direct traffic in the area.
A spokeswoman added that a Bermuda Bicycle Association junior cycling individual time trial road race will affect traffic in Hamilton Parish and Smith’s starting at about 7.30am on Sunday.
Cyclists will head from the Harrington Sound Road public dock to Wilkinson Avenue and the Blue Hole Hill roundabout, then go along North Shore Road to Flatts Village and finish at the top of the hill at Harrington Sound Road.
No road closures or parking restrictions are expected during this event, which is set to finish by 9am, but speed in the area will be limited to 75km/h and motorists should follow instructions from officials.
Several roads in Pembroke will be closed between 1pm and 10pm on Monday to accommodate the Revel de Road procession.
Participants will head from Hamilton to Marsh Folly Road, Palmetto Road and Barkers Hill for the first lap between 12.30pm and 3.15pm and the second lap will go from North Shore Road to Marsh Folly Road into the city and end at Dutton Avenue between 4pm and 8pm.
Residential and local access will be permitted during the closure, but motorists should avoid these areas.
The holiday weekend will also affect buses on Saturday and Monday.
The Waves concert will impact the Route 4 bus services between 1pm and 6.27pm, when the route switches to St John's Road in both directions.
Passengers travelling to and from the Spanish Point area should expect minor delays.
On Monday, the holiday bus schedule will be in effect.
Several routes will be impacted by road closures associated with the Revel De Road Carnival celebrations, with the most significant impacts expected on Routes 10 and 11.
The public is advised that due to the nature of the event, detours will change throughout the day and evening as road closures are implemented and subsequently removed. Passengers are encouraged to allow additional travel time when travelling on Monday.
