The troubled Pink Route ferry service has been suspended until further notice following “urgent repairs”, The Royal Gazette can share.

The Department of Marine and Port Services made the announcement this afternoon, saying repairs needed to be made to the route’s ferry.

The announcement follows an earlier warning on Sunday announcing that the Pink Route would be suspended until Thursday for urgent boat repairs.

It marks a continuation of the fifth Pink Route suspension this year. The first took place at the end of January with another happening near the end of February.

The ferry was grounded a third time on March 24 for about a week, once again citing mechanical problems.

The most recent suspension happened earlier this month.

Mechanical problems have plagued the Pink Route ferry service for several years now.

The Government last July restricted operations on the Pink Route to weekdays only with seven scheduled loops along the route per day.

Despite this, the route still experienced several breakdowns throughout the year.
