Tropical Storm Henri still a threat

Hanging around: TS Henri (Image supplied by the Bermuda Weather Service)

Tropical Storm Henri could bring strong winds and high seas to the island over the next two days, forecasters said last night.

The weather system, upgraded to a tropical storm this afternoon, was 145 miles southeast of Bermuda and circling the south side of the island at 8pm yesterday.

TS Henri was packing winds of 40.2mph with gusts of 51.7mph.

The storm is expected to intensify in the next 48 hours and produce winds of tropical storm force at times, especially towards the south of the island’s marine area.
