The Government has urged the public to be wary of stormy weather this weekend, including thunderstorms and possible flooding.

The Bermuda Weather Service has issued a thunderstorm advisory, which is set to continue through this evening, with the forecast warning of potential further thunderstorms over the weekend.

A government spokesman said: “The public is reminded that a very unstable air mass will persist over Bermuda and its marine areas for the next several days.

“Periods of thunderstorms and heavy rain are likely to occur from today through the weekend.

“Localised flooding will be possible in areas that receive the heavier rainfall during this period.”

The BWS forecast for the weekend predicted sunny spells along with showers.

“With a stalled frontal boundary to our nearby northwest, the often cloudy and showery pattern will continue through much of the long Labour Day holiday weekend, with the potential for further thunderstorms,” the forecast stated.
