‘Patchy’ fog engulfs island
Fog engulfed sections of the island this evening and the Bermuda Weather Service said the unusual conditions were expected to linger as a trough moves across the area.
Thick fog was reported at St George’s Harbour which a resident said was a rare sight.
Foggy conditions were also reported across areas of Devonshire and Paget, while a dense mist drifted through the streets of Hamilton, cutting visibility.
The conditions forced an Air Canada flight to return to Toronto as low visibility affected its ability to land. The flight had been expected to land at about 9pm.
The striking weather event was a throwback to similar conditions seen in October 2021.
The BWS said in a bulletin shortly after 8pm: “Patchy fog turning to mist while cloudy skies thin and lift.
“Winds southerly light, increasing light to moderate overnight.”
The BWS added that sunny spells were expected today, followed by cloudy conditions in the evening.
