Adventures beyond the classroom

St. David's Primary P3 class observed a variety of different creatures during their recent trip to the Aquarium, as recorded by Rachel Mello-Cann.

Learning at St. David’s Primary extends beyond the classroom, and teachers take advantage of the wealth of resources available to them, including the Bermuda Aquarium, Museum and Zoo. Following a visit to the Aquarium, Ms Toyra Woolridge’s Primary 3 students were invited to reflect on their experience.“At the Aquarium I saw a shark with a sore nose and a tree kangaroo sleeping on a branch, snakes, water monitors, tortoises, and otters swimming nearby. I learned lots of things I didn’t know. That’s why I like the Aquarium so much.” Dakarai Grant.“I observed a miniature catfish. I saw a little lizard on a huge rock. I saw a python wrapped around a stick. I saw a tree kangaroo sitting on a tree. I saw tortoises eating lettuce and apples. I saw a miniature monkey sitting on a fence. The animal that I liked was the octopus because it has tentacles. I saw sea turtles in an epic pool. I saw a shark with a sore nose, and big pink bright flamingos. The whole class got to do three life cycles. I saw a very big lizard. I saw all those things at the Aquarium.” Shia Smith.“My class went on a visit to the Aquarium and I saw seals with an empty tank! Nobody saw the crocodile because it was at the bottom of his pool. We saw a flamingo standing in the puddle scraping his back with his beak! Then we saw so many animals in different cages. Then we saw the bear-cat! And after that, we saw the wallaby. Then we saw the Galapagos tortoises. One was a girl and one was a boy. We saw a sore nose shark because it kept bumping into the reef. Then we had recess, and then we ate lunch before going back to school. Kaniyah Daniels.
