Making a difference

On Tuesday, December 21st students from Dellwood Middle School, supervised by Beverly Taylor, teamed up with Dunkley’s Dairy to deliver food hampers to those in need. For the past 17 years Beverly Taylor and a group of kind, helpful, young ladies have been generously showing Christmas love during the Christmas season.Ms Taylor stated, “It all started from when I was teaching at Dellwood Primary. I saw a little boy come to school daily without any food to eat. It really touched my heart. I thought to myself, ‘I need to do something about that sad situation’. I started a small group with dedicated women from my local church delivering food. The programme became so successful, I was honoured in the House of Assembly!”Every year, around the giving holiday the association gives back to the community. This year I decided to join my mother in this duty for the first time. Having not experienced so many people with a disadvantage in my personal life it was breathtaking to see the look of gratitude on the faces of little precious children. Annually Michael Dunkley has been charitable to consistently donate the food. The food hampers consisted of a turkey, ham, milk, egg nog, cookies, pie, chips, eggs, cereal, peanuts, orange juice, fruits and vegetables.“My favourite saying is: If I can help someone as I pass along, then my living shall not be in vain. It gives me great pleasure and joy to know that I’ve made a difference in someone’s brief life,” Ms Taylor stated.
