Meeting the challenge of the Middle to End bike ride

Determination over distance: Cyclists Davin Dill and Jordin Edness met the challenge of cycling from Hamilton to Dockyard during the Catlin Middle to End event on May 1.

Over the years, we've made many achievements, but our biggest achievement so far has been completing the Catlin Middle-to-End on bikes. On May 1, 2010, we met in town so that we could do the trip together.

Even though we started out with stretches and even though we are both in good shape as distance runners, our legs were hurting at the start of the ride. Going uphill, our legs were kicking, but going downhill made us feel like we were unstoppable.

At first, we were travelling pretty fast but were tired and had slowed down by the time we reached Barnes Corner. But talking to each other helped us. When we got to the bridge that crosses into Dockyard, we knew that we had finished the ride for the first time! And seeing the heap of orange shirts from all of the officials standing around was a great sight. My dad (Mr. Dill) always tells us that we can accomplish anything if we put our minds to it. Completing the Catlin Middle-to-End on bike was an exciting experience for us both.
