Going bald for St Baldrick’s
Toby Gibbons, a P4 student at Somersfield Academy, who will have his head shaved tomorrow, reflects on going bald in the second in a series on the St. Baldrick's fundraiser for cancer research.I'm excited about doing St Baldrick's again! The first time I did it I was kind of nervous because I had never had my head shaved before and it felt funny to feel the shaver going over my head and all the hair falling on the ground. I looked kind of silly afterwards and felt a bit cold so I wore a ski hat until I got used to it but after a while I thought I looked pretty cool. And I remembered that the sick children lose all their hair because of the medicine they have to take to try and get rid of the cancer.
So feeling silly and cold for a little while is not such a big deal and anyway my hair will soon grow back. Now that I'm used to it, I'm really looking forward to having my head shaved again!
