Whitney Institute is committed to promoting reading as a necessary, but fun activity that anyone can engage in. On September 23, the school held a PJ/Slipper grub day. On November 4, the students and staff dressed as literary characters. On November 18, the school joined others across the Island in a dedicated reading hour. Each of these events supports the Reading Clinic through awareness and financially. The aim of the Reading Clinic is “to get children excited about reading. We want to share the joys of reading and help them to have fun with books, poems and fictional characters” noted Cynthia Armano, Volunteer Special Events.

The places she'll go: The cat in the hat (Donika York) visited Whitney Institute to encourage students to explore the world of books as part of the school's recent literacy initiative.
