Leaving the distractions behind Lashanda’s diary

Mission: To last a week without social media. Before thoughts: This is going to be one of the hardest weeks ever. I’m going to be out of the loop. I won’t know what is going on.Day OneToday I left my iPod and my cell phone at home. There was no radio in the house or in the car. I never knew how weird it was to hear silence. I missed my music. I didn’t go on Facebook or MSN.Day TwoOnce again I left my cell phone and iPod home. However, when I returned home I used my phone but managed to keep away from Facebook or MSN.Day ThreeNo Facebook. I realise I now have more free time …Day FourToday is the fourth day without Facebook. I have reduced my phone use to a minimum. The positive is I’m not distracted doing my homework; the negative I miss my friends.Day FiveIt is the weekend, I have a lot of homework to get done. I noticed without Facebook everything was accomplished a lot faster … More free time.Day SixI managed not to use the computer or my phone today.Day SevenToday is the last day of the Social Media Challenge. I am going to try my best not to use technology today. After thoughts: The challenge is now over. I have learned that if I put the distractions away I have more free time to do other things.I wonder how my life and the lives of other teenagers would be vastly different if social media had not been invented until we were adults.
