Early Halloween treat for parents

Arriving parents and children at the Bermuda High School for Girls received an early Halloween “treat” last Friday morning.

There to greet them was a music ensemble performing Halloween music for them! Florence Nicholls, Daina Babeckas both saxophonists, were joined by Emily Williams and Freya Neame (flute) and Meredith Marra (clarinet) to serenade incoming staff and students.

Florence Nicholls and Freya Neame designed special posters for the occasion advertising Halloween as well as the Fair which was to take place that evening at BHS.

“It’s so inspiring to listen to the children perform so early in the morning” exclaimed an arriving parent. “Well done to all of them.”

Freya also composed a “haunting” piece of flute music which lent a “scary” atmosphere to the special occasion. “I just thought of what creepy music would sound like and wrote it down then played it” said the Primary Six student.

That evening, BHS hosted its annual Halloween Fair, attended by over 600 parents, students, teachers and friends.

The Halloween Fair is a fun and safe event with Primary students, siblings and friends dressing up and Secondary students volunteering to run games and assist in the very popular and very scary Haunted House tour.
