Island’s schools share spoils on cup final day

Primary School Girls

Saltus Grammar School defeated Elliott Primary School 2-1 in a repeat of last year’s Primary School Girls’ final. Saltus took a first half lead through Emily Hartiwg. Jaden Masters equalised for Elliot before Morgan Rossiter scored the winner. Koa Goodchild was named MVP for Saltus while Danni Watson was named MVP for Elliot Primary

In the semi-finals Elliot defeated Purvis Primary 6-1 with Jaden Masters leading the way with a hat trick. Tanasia Paynter, Jalon Symonds and Satia Burchall also found the back of the net.

Saltus meanwhile beat Warwick Academy 9-0 in the other semifinal. Noah Autmezguine, Emily Hartwig and Morgan Rossiter each scored twice while Kathleen Brown, Koa Goodchild and Brianna Ray also got on the score sheet

Primary School Boys

Paget Primary won the Primary School Boys division with a 3-1 win over St George’s Prep.

Paget got goals from MVP Jakeem Jennings, Shane Robinson and Joshua Joseph. Danhem Minors scored the lone goal for the East Enders. Goalkeeper Kaelan Paynter was the St George’s MVP after making many fine saves to keep his team in the match

In the semi-final Paget Primary defeated Dalton E Tucker 5-4 in what was easily the most entertaining match of the day.

Paget stormed to a 4-1 halftime lead. Tucker fought back and scored three unanswered goals in the second half before suffering heart break when Paget found a late winner. Jakeem Jennings scored twice for Paget while Shane Robinson, Ajani Burchall and Sancho Smith also scored. Dalton E Tucker got two goals from Daimori Tucker and single strikes from Khabir Monroe-Dill and Kymani McNeal.

St George’s Prep. defeated Elliot Primary in a sudden death penalty shoot-out. DeAndre Todd gave Prep. the lead midway through the second half before Leroy Lewis equalised for Elliot with the last kick of the match.

Middle School Girls

Saltus also won the middle school girls title after defeating league champions Sandys Secondary Middle School in a penalty shoot-out. Saltus grabbed a first half lead through MVP LeiLanni Nesbeth. Tae-Eja Bean scored for Sandys late in the match to send the game into a penalty shoot-out. Destine Edwards-Hill was the MVP for Sandys.

Saltus Grammar defeated Whitney Institute 3-2 in the semifinal. LeiLanni Nesbeth scored twice for the winners while Haleigh Martin added a goal from the penalty spot. Whitney got both goals from Naziah Webb. Sandys earned a spot in the final after beating BHS 5-0. Makayla Robinson netted four goals while Jya Ratteray-Smith also scored.

Middle School under-13 Boys

Sandys won the Middle School under 13 final 4-0 over Somersfield Academy to win the league and cup double. Jeze Butterfield scored two for the victors as well as Mical Dill and Tego Bean. Yizharyah Williams was named MVP for Sandys while Seke Spence was named MVP for Somersfield

Sandys blanked Whitney Institute 2-0 in their semi final with goals from Mical Dill and Jalun Hassell. Somersfield meanwhile defeated Saltus 5-1 behind an impressive hat trick from Diego Richardson. They also got an own goal and a goal from Nahje Brockington. Peter Sylvester got Saltus’ lone goal.

Middle School over-13 Boys

Whitney Institute defeated TN Tatem In a penalty shoot-out after a 1-1 draw. Janeiro Johnson gave Whitney the lead in the first half before Jaheim Iris pulled one back for Tatem. Chaki Zuill was MVP for Whitney while Jahkeylo Burgess was MVP for Tatem.

TN Tatem defeated Dellwood Middle school 3-0 in the over 13 semi final with two goals from T’Ahje Smith and one from Ruben Bulhoes. Whitney Institute beat Clearwater Middle School on penalties after the game finished 3-3. Jahquari Paynter, Jahnia Trott and Mical Hardtman scored for Whitney while Clearwater got goals two goals from Chae Lindo and one from Zurri Burgess

Senior Girls

CedarBridge Academy beat The Berkeley Institute 1-0 in with a goal from Deshae Darrell. K’Sheala Burch Waldron was the MVP for CedarBridge while Tiara Smith was the Berkeley MVP.

Senior School under-16s

Berkeley easily defeated Saltus 8-0 in the senior school under 16 final. Jaizel Smith and Jahzarde Samuels each scored two while Macquille Walker, Sage Paynter and Jason Simons got one each. Azende Furbert was the Berkeley MVP while Matthew Lampit was the Saltus MVP.

In the semi finals Berkeley defeated CedarBridge Academy 3-0 with two goals from Jaizel Smith and one from Maquille Walker. Saltus defeated Warwick Academy on penalties after a 3-3 draw. Saltus got two goals from Kaeton Pewter and one from Matthew Lampit. Warwick got two from Omari Tucker and one from Cameron Bell.

Senior School over-16s

Berkeley scored with the last kick in the match to defeat Warwick Academy 3-2. Berkeley took a 2-0 lead through Jah-Mair Lewis Trott and JahnaZae Swan. Warwick came storming back with goals from Seth Somner and MVP Lewis Daley. Yuhni Durham then settled matters with a goal in the dying minutes. Jahtino Richardson Martin was the Berkeley MVP

Warwick Academy defeated Saltus in the semi finals on penalties after a scoreless stalemate. Berkeley meanwhile also defeated CedarBridge Academy on penalties after a 3-3 draw. Antoine seaman got two for CedarBridge with Kodi Carlington adding one. Berkeley got goals from Jahnazae Swan, Kevin Moreno and Don Desliva.
