By Colin Thompson at Wembley StadiumNahki Wells carved his name in local football folklore after becoming the first Bermudian to score at Wembley Stadium.The Bradford City striker netted his team's third and final goal in Saturday’s comfortable 3-0 against Northampton Town in the League Two Play-Off final before a crowd of 47,127 fans."It's a great achievement to score at Wembley," Wells told The Royal Gazette. "This was an important moment for my country and club, so obviously I'm very delighted. Our first motive was to win to make sure we got promoted and anything additional to that was a plus."It (scoring) all happened so quickly so it's hard to remember what's happened. When I put it into the net it was a big relief because I knew the third was always going to be the killer blow, and to get it was a proud moment."As a striker you love to score goals in any way, shape or form but to score on the biggest days and most important times ... those are the ones that really stay with you."Wells' 28th minute strike was his 26th goal of the season, and fourth against the Cobblers this season."I think it just happens that every player has one of those teams where they score most of their goals against," he said. "You just have to try and go into games confident as possible and I make sure I do that because if you're not a confident player you're not likely to do well and score goals."Northampton is a team that I do score most of my goals against and I'm thankful to get another one."Wells said his team's strategy worked to perfection."Our game plan was to go out and there and nullify the support to their front men and play to the benefit of our front men, and we did that well," he said. "We got a lot of corners and throw ins around their box and when you have those opportunities one or two are likely to fall to you, and we took them well."Wells refuses to take all the credit for his remarkable 26-goal season during his first full campaign as a Bantam.He said: “It’s been a great season for myself but I can't take all the plaudits. I've scored 26 goals but playing with the players we have there's always the possibility (to score) because they make it so easy for me. It’s been a great season and I just want to thank my team-mates and manager.“Realistically this is my first full season that I've played. Last year I made about 16 starts so to have done that (score 26 goals) to kick it off like this is unbelievable."It’s been a magnificent season for me and I've chipped in with quite a few goals this season, which I set out to achieve and I'm thankful. But without the players, manager, staff and fans backing me so well this season none of it would've been possible so I can't thank them enough.”
