The St George’s Harbour Powerboat race came to a premature conclusion on Sunday afternoon after a high-speed incident.

Owner and driver Howard Ascento and co-pilot Nasaje Anderson were thankfully uninjured after their boat flipped during the course of the event and even posed with thumbs up after returning to shore.

Their boat, D4, was also recovered from the water.

“Unfortunately today we had an incident in the St George Harbour Race,” read a post on Facebook by the Bermuda Power Boat Association.

“Both driver and co-pilot are fine. Thanks to St Johns Ambulance for their speedy response, Coastguards and our Marshall Boats for assistance.”

After the incident the race was red flagged, with no further action taking place.
