Youngsters put through paces by Bascome and team of coaches

David Bascome and his team of overseas coaches are sharpening the skills of Bermuda's budding players as part of the annual HSBC Pro Soccer Clinic.The coaching camp, open to male and female players aged between four and 16, was launched yesterday at BAA Field and will run until the end of the week, offering programmes for the Kiddy Kickers, Basic Group and Bridge to Success.Kiddie Kickers, a starter clinic, is designed for the Island's youngest players between four and five years and introduces basic skills and fun drills during daily one hour evening sessions.The Basic Group provides players between the ages of six-10 with the opportunity to build on their skills and become team players on and off the field.Bridge to Success is open to male and female players aged nine-16 and gives participants the tools to become the model player.The School of Excellence coed programme, running from July 8-12, will again be offered to ten selected players between the ages of 12-16.Participants are being be coached by ex-Bermuda international Bascome and top coaches from the United States including Danny Kelly, head coach of the Baltimore Blast, and former James Madison University player Shannon Seipp.Seipp said: "I have such a passion for soccer and it is incredibly fulfilling to be able to give back to the soccer community by coaching and motivating youth.“Soccer helped me to develop accountability and confidence which has carried over into all aspects of life, so it is great to be able to pass this along to the next generation while having a lot of fun!"Neville Grant, HSBC spokesperson for this year's clinic, added: “HSBC Bermuda, a committed supporter of our community and has sponsored Pro Soccer clinics since its inception in 1992.“HSBC's Pro Soccer Clinic offers our young people more than just an opportunity to upgrade their football skills, as it also encourages our young people to become excellent teammates both on the field and in our community.”For more pictures click here
