A tractor trailer travelling along South Road, in Smith’s, caused a utility pole to break and crash onto the road, bringing down power lines.

Motorists were diverted away from the scene, just east of Spittal Pond and the Harrington Hundreds supermarket, as Belco crews worked to repair the damage.

The accident happened at about 10am. Road diversions were in place for a number of hours.
