Burglar shoots himself during raid

Police say two burglars fled from a North Shore Road property in Hamilton Parish after one shot himself

A bungling burglar shot himself after a two-man raid on a house in Hamilton Parish, it was revealed last night.

The two fled the scene after the self-inflicted gunshot wound.

And police last night said a man was arrested in connection with the incident after he turned up at the King Edward VII Memorial Hospital for a suspected gunshot wound.

Police last night refused to say if the man had shot himself in the foot.

A spokesman added that a man remained in custody in connection with the robbery and enquiries were continuing to trace the other man involved.

The incident happened around 9.15pm last Friday night at a house on the Hamilton Parish stretch of North Shore Road.

No one else was injured and police have appealed for witnesses who were in the area of the East End Telecom HQ around the time of the incident.
