Government’s Department of Corrections has had a grand week, with its first Celebration, highlighted by a super Seniors’ Tea, and a renewed stimulus for the men and women charged with the rehabilitation of those who have lost their way or otherwise lapsed in judgment.

Central personality, of course was the Commissioner of Corrections Lt Col Edward J Lambe.

He set the pace without pomp, but with his characteristically friendly authoritative style saluting each and everyone engaged all along the line throughout the week.

Other dignitaries involved included Premier Michael Dunkley; and Deputy Mayor of Hamilton, Donal Smith.

Also involved were various social workers, psychologists, medical personnel and young men and women bent on full-time careers dedicated to enabling what was termed “a second chance” for those deserving.

The Seniors’ tea as we stated earlier was super. Veterans had no hesitation declaring it was one of the best they had ever attended.

Mistress of Ceremonies was Gina EE Davis, sometimes better known as “Gina Love”.

The welcome was warmly extended by Officer Damon Place after remarks by Assistant Commissioner Kenneth Cann and prayer by Chaplin Kevin Santucci.

There was entertainment by Jade Minors and Kathleen Forth.

There was an endless round of refreshments; gift certificates and personal packages for each attendee.
