Cordeiro pips Lamb at the post

Elizabeth Parson, Brady Cordeiro and Kenny Leseur won their respective divisions as the HSBC International Junior Golf Classic finished at Port Royal yesterday with the players playing the first six holes three times to avoid the harsh wind conditions brought on by the passing hurricane Cristobal.

With the wind strongest on the southern side, the tournament director Sergio Edness of Edness GOLF opted to play the first six holes which were on the northern side of the course where the winds were not as strong.

Parson won the Girls Division after shooting a third round 85 for a three-day total of 250, well ahead of Greer Valaquenta on 287.

The closest division was the boys 13-15 where Cordeiro shot a final-round 81 to edge out Dakota Lamb by one stroke. Cordeiro’s three-day score was 244 while Lamb finished on 245 after his 86 yesterday in the challenging conditions. Kheary Swan was third on 248 after shooting 88 yesterday.

In the Open Red Division, Leseur won by 15 strokes over Feanor Valaquenta, finishing on 261 after carding an 87 yesterday while shot a 97. Alex Withers Clarke finished on 291 after also shooting a 97.

The Novices played three rounds of six holes and Ryan Grant finished top on 103 while Kian Mooney was second on 128 and Marcus Furr third on 132.
