Students to attend leadership conference

Cedarbridge Academy

CedarBridge Academy Student Government & The National Honor Society, will send 26 students to join 700-plus student leaders to attend the Leadership Experience and Development (LEAD) Conference January 28 – February 3 in Washington DC.

This year’s conference theme is, “Energize Your Leadership!” The LEAD Conference is a programme of the National Association of Secondary School Principals (NASSP) that administers the National Honor Society™, the National Junior Honor Society™, and the National Association of Student Councils™.

Students will attend workshops on improving leadership skills, problem solving, project planning, fundraising, teambuilding, idea sharing and networking. In addition, they will participate in special sessions presented by popular motivational speakers.

“The LEAD Conferences offer talented young people from across the country the opportunity to sharpen their leadership skills in order to make a difference in their schools and communities,” said JoAnn Bartoletti, executive director, NASSP.

Attendance at each conference includes representation not only from Bermuda but from an average of twenty-seven (27) states.

The LEAD Conferences have also attracted a more global audience with student delegations coming from a variety of countries that have included Mexico, Virgin Islands, Thailand, Taiwan, Turkey, Haiti, and Puerto Rico.

The attendance by these groups has enriched the conference experience for all attendees and provided a unique, multicultural networking opportunity for student leaders who discover their similar goals to improve their schools and communities through their leadership activities.
