Bermudians must vote with heads, not colour

Doomed paradise? Race is getting in the way of good governance, says this letter writer

Dear Sir,

I am always surprised that everyone in Bermuda seems to think one person is the architect of all the opposition and the one who is guiding the party.

I think we give this person too much credit. This was someone who failed to lead Bermuda properly, wasted our money, and almost made us bankrupt, flooded our civil service, built us an extravagant hospital, which we are now unable to sustain.

Surely even our misguided opposition can’t look to this person for guidance?

Surely the electorate are not so backwards as to believe that these serious errors should be overlooked simply because this was a ‘black’ government.

I cannot believe that the population really believes that they are persecuted and ignored by the OBA simply because this is a multiracial party.

Anyone who gets to vote should go to the polls with an expectation of governance and not with a “What’s in it for me?”

Charity does not come from parliament. Good ideas and careful planning do.

The bad old days that are constantly brought up by those who wish to be in power no longer exist. It is time that Bermudians vote with their heads and not by the color of their skin.

Until this happens this “island paradise” is doomed.

Sincerely,

JK Williams
