Tourist disappointment over no buses

Disrupting economy: travelling by taxi during the withdrawal of labour proves too costly for some tourists (Photograph by David Skinner)

Dear Sir,

As visitors to your lovely island for a month’s stay, we were surprised to arrive at the bus stop and be told by a local lady there were no buses that day. It’s unfortunate that we then discover that there is also a potential strike for tomorrow.

Already we’ve seen signs in the grocery store of the strikes affecting the incoming food supplies.

After purchasing the tourist monthly bus pass for $69, we may find it is too costly during our stay to travel by taxi on a daily basis.
