Umer Islam has been appointed as leader of EY’s captive insurance practice.

Mr Islam, the professional services firm’s Bermuda executive director, has more than 14 years of experience providing assurance and advisory services to insurance and reinsurance clients in London and Bermuda.

“We are very excited to have Umer assume the role of EY Bermuda captive insurance leader as we continue to grow this part of our practice, along with our global captive platform,” said David Brown, EY Bermuda senior partner. “Umer has a proven track record of exceptional quality service to our captive clients and we look forward to him expanding our offerings in this important area.”

Bermuda is the leading jurisdiction for captive insurance companies and the EY captive platform’s service offerings including assurance, actuarial, tax consulting and a range of other advisory services throughout the captive life cycle.

Mr Islam is also a member of the Chartered Professional Accountants of Bermuda, the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales, the Association of Chartered Certified Accounts and Chartered Insurance Institute in the UK.
