Banks announce reopening times

Butterfield Bank will reopen from Monday as part of phase one of the relaxation of Covid-19 shelter in place measures, while HSBC Bermuda has announced opening times for its branches on two days next week.In addition, Clarien Bank has streamlined its operations and will reopen its Hamilton branch from 9am to 1pm, Monday through Friday. Butterfield’s banking centres in St George, Somerset, and Reid Street, in Hamilton, as well as the temporary banking centre at Rosebank, also in Hamilton, will open from 9am to 1pm, Monday through Friday.The Rosebank centre will provide services for seniors only. There will be no surname schedule used and the banks will serve all customers each day it is open.Saturday banking, however, will remain suspended until further notice.Butterfield said strict social distancing measures will be enforced and customers entering the branches will have to be masked.The bank added customers should continue to use online channels, such as Butterfield Online, the Butterfield mobile banking app, or ATMs, to conduct transactions if possible.Meanwhile, HSBC Bermuda is reopening HSBC Harbourview, in Hamilton, and its branches in St George and Somerset on Tuesday and Thursday next week, from 9am through 1pm. Customers are asked to strictly observe the 9am to 10am scheduled dedicated time for seniors, as well as social distancing norms. The bank also said that, to protect the health of customers, employees and the wider community, all customers are required to wear facial coverings or masks, in line with government advice. HSBC Bermuda will continue to provide limited banking services in the branches. For individuals, the services available are defined as cheque deposit and cash withdrawal for non-debit card holders, statement printing to support submissions for Bermuda Government unemployment support, collection of debit and/or credit cards and collection of HSBC security devices to enable online banking. Customers are advised that pre-orders for cash withdrawals and statement prints can be made by calling 299-5959. HSBC ATMs and online banking services continue to be available, as does the HSBC Bermuda contact Centre during normal business hours.Clarien Bank, in a statement said: “As the Government-issued ‘Shelter in Place’ advisory enters a phased re-opening, Clarien Bank will resume in-branch operations at the Hamilton branch location on Monday. We are committed to the health and safety of clients and employees, and will continue to adhere to social distancing guidelines to help minimise potential virus exposure.”The bank’s Hamilton office will be open Monday through Friday from 9am to 1pm, with the first hour dedicated to “at risk” customers, such as the elderly.
