Man charged with possessing 900g of cannabis

A Smith’s man was this morning charged with possessing more than 900g of cannabis.

Manai Roberts, 25, appeared in Magistrates’ Court to face charges of possessing cannabis with intent to supply and possessing $23,885 in cash representing the proceeds of criminal activity.

Both charges relate to an incident in Paget on August 26, and were said to involve 902.7g of the controlled substance.

According to prosecutors, that quantity of drugs could fetch between $12,350 and $15,200 if sold on the streets of Bermuda.

He was not required to enter a plea as the matter must be heard by the Supreme Court.

Magistrate Khamisi Tokunbo released Mr Roberts on $20,000 bail with a like surety, ordering that he surrender his travel documents and report to the Hamilton Police Station twice a week.

The matter is expected to appear before the Supreme Court in November.
