Warwick teenager steals bike and electronics

A Warwick teenager stole electronics from two homes and took a motorcycle.

Daneko Cann-Hayward, 19, admitted four separate offences, October and December 2016.

Magistrates’ Court heard that Hayward stole $1,848 of valuables including speakers, a camera and sunglasses from one Warwick home. Another Warwick resident found that items, including a TV, jewellery and camera had been taken.

The final offence was reported on December 16, when a woman discovered that the licence plate on her motorcycle had been swapped while it was parked in the City Hall car park.

Police arrested Cann-Hayward after spotting him riding the stolen motorcycle.

Cann-Hayward refused to stop for police, but was caught after he lost control of the bike near Price Rite in Warwick.

Senior magistrate Juan Wolffe ordered pre-sentencing reports on Cann-Hayward and released him on bail until March 28.
