Hefty fine for 2012 traffic offences

A 35-year-old man was fined $3,650 yesterday for traffic offences dating back six years.

Edward Burch admitted to failing to stop after an accident

Magistrates’ Court heard that Burch’s motorcycle collided with a car at the junction of Front Street and Burnaby Street on March 1, 2012.

The bumper of the car was ripped off as a result.

Burch was issued tickets for failure to stop after an accident, driving without due care and attention, having no third-party insurance, use of an unlicensed motorcycle and having no driver’s licence.

The court heard that Burch was stopped by police two weeks later in the car park of the Leopards Club in Pembroke after officers saw the bike he was riding perform a U-turn.

Police discovered that his bike was unlicensed and Burch had no third-party insurance or valid driver’s licence.
