A man who admitted drink driving told police that he had been at a bar all day, Magistrates’ Court heard yesterday.Carlton Darrell, 70, pleaded guilty to drink driving.He further admitted driving without a valid licence.The court heard that Darrell was stopped at a roadside breath test checkpoint on Crow Lane, Pembroke, last Friday.He told police: “I was in Spinning Wheel all day.”Darrell, from Warwick, was arrested and taken to Hamilton Police Station for a breath test.The test showed that Darrell had 135.8 milligrams of alcohol in 100 millilitres of blood. The legal limit is 80mg/100ml.Police also discovered Darrell’s driver’s licence had expired.Magistrate Craig Attridge banned Darrell from driving for 18 months.He also fined him $1,200 and ordered him to pay by January 17.• It is The Royal Gazette’s policy not to allow comments on stories regarding court cases.
