Four defendants will have their Supreme Court trial dates set before the end of the year, it has been ruled.Craig Ingham, 53, Leonard Swan, 52, and Keith Smith, 51, will appear in the Supreme Court on December 16 to set a trial date for an alleged aggravated burglary.The men denied trespassing into the home of Mitchell Watson while armed with bladed articles and doing him bodily harm.The incident is alleged to have happened on February 17 in St George’s.A 56-year-old man from Smith’s, charged with a string of 20-year-old sex offences against two girls, will also appear on December 16 to have a trial date set.The man, who cannot be identified for legal reasons, pleaded not guilty to two counts of unlawful carnal knowledge of a girl aged under 14, as well as sexually touching the girl and an attempt to have unlawful carnal knowledge of her.He also pleaded not guilty to sexually touching and attempting to have unlawful carnal knowledge of another girl aged under 14.All of the offences are alleged to have happened between June 1992 and June 1997.Puisne Judge Charles-Etta Simmons continued bail for all four defendants.The 56-year-old man will also appear in Supreme Court on October 1 alongside a 67-year-old man from St George’s on a separate sex-assault charge on a schoolgirl from 25 years ago.The incident is alleged to have happened on an unknown date between January 24, 1994 and January 23, 1995.The alleged victim, who cannot be named for legal reasons, was aged under 14 at the time of the alleged incident.Mrs Justice Simmons adjourned the case and continued bail of $15,000 for both defendants.Daneko Cann-Hayward, 22, Jukai Burgess, 20, and Grayson Swan, 19, also appeared in Supreme Court on Wednesday.Charles Richardson, the defence lawyer for Mr Cann-Hayward, said that he planned to make a bail application for his client, who has been in custody since he appeared Magistrates’ Court on May 12.Mr Cann-Hayward, from Warwick, and his co-defendants have been charged with robbery, use of a firearm after committing an indictable offence and handling a firearm.The incident is alleged to have happened in a robbery on Middle Road, Warwick, on May 8.Elizabeth Christopher, for Mr Burgess, from St George’s, and Marc Daniels, for Mr Swan, from Warwick, said they would wait to submit a bail application for their clients.Mrs Justice Simmons adjourned the case until September 30 for consideration of Mr Richardson’s bail application.• It is The Royal Gazette’s policy not to allow comments on stories regarding criminal court cases.
