Leverock a big hit for Clifton

Great form: Kamau Leverock scored 125 in Derbyshire

Kamau Leverock was in imperious form with the bat playing for Clifton, in Derbyshire at the weekend.

The Bermudian all-rounder produced a swashbuckling knock of 125 opening his team’s innings in their abandoned match against Lullington Park in the Derbyshire County Cricket League Division One at Chapel Lane Ground on Saturday.

Clifton scored 271 for three declared in 38 overs after electing to bat with wicketkeeper William Harvey (64), Matthew Gouldstone (30 not out) and Jonathan Clare (23 not out) also enjoying good knocks at the crease.

Tom Fern was the pick of the Lullington Park bowling attack, with one for 38, while Paul Dawson claimed one for 95 from 14 overs.

In reply, Lullington Park were 72 without loss after 7.1 overs when rain forced the match to be abandoned.

Leverock also opened the bowling for Clifton, going for 29 runs in the four overs he sent down that included a maiden.

This month Leverock, who also plays for the Nottinghamshire second XI, was a member of inaugural Global Twenty20 Canada winners Vancouver Knights.

He made just one appearance during the tournament, scoring five runs batting No 7 and conceding seven runs in the only over he sent down in the 18-run win over Montreal Tigers.
