Dear Sir,

I wonder how many people read the Letter to the Editor, entitled “An ode to Richards”. What a brilliant and incisive letter in honour of a real statesman who has done so much for this country.

Unfortunately, it appears not everyone recognises Bob Richards’s contribution. “Anonymous” rightly points out how Bob Richards stood up to foreign powers, as well as our local bullies.

Mr Richards, believe me when I tell you, all right-thinking people in Bermuda appreciate what you have done for this country; indeed, you could not have done more. You took a failing economy and turned it around to enable Bermuda to survive. David Burt would do well to converse with you, if he truly wants the island to succeed and not become a Third World country.
