Time is ripe for Uber to kick taxis to the kerb

Dear Sir,

OK, Bermuda, it’s time! It’s time to stop the madness and it’s time to stop the pretending that your taxi system is acceptable.

It’s time to change with the times. I have been to Third World countries that have a more efficient taxi system. You need Uber just like you needed and now have Airbnb.

I just waited, along with six other visitors, for more than an hour to get a taxi after spending $259 on dinner. While we are OK with the dinner, we are not OK with the rude dispatch service that tells us they have virtually no idea when our taxi will arrive.

Talk about ending an evening on a bad note. This is now a regular problem I experience every time I visit. Your taxi drivers are too expensive, too impersonal and way too unreliable!

They simply refuse to take visitors on short rides and hold out for higher paying trips. This is no way to treat visitors.

It’s time to break up this dated model and let free enterprise rise to the top, giving your wonderful island what it needs and deserves.

Uber.

It will transform travel for your visitors and they will have a much better experience when they visit.
