Small businesses recognised in BEDC awards
Bermuda’s entrepreneurial class was celebrated on Saturday at the third annual Small Business Awards presented by the Bermuda Economic Development Corporation.
Awards were presented in eight categories in the ceremony at Hamilton Princess & Beach Club.
DropIt Delivery, the island’s grocery delivery business, was named Entrepreneur of the Year ahead of fellow nominees Coral Coast, and FryDays.
Taking home the Business of the Year prize was Beach Boys Ltd, the Tobacco Bay concessionaire. Also nominated in the category were Orchid Nail Spa, and Strykz Bowling Lounge.
Eettafel Bermuda, the luxury picnic provider, was named Most Enterprising Young Entrepreneur ahead of first runner-up Bermuda Local Guides and second runner-up Click Errands.
BDA Spirits, the canned cocktails, spirits, beer and wine delivery service, won the New Startup of the Year award. Also nominated in the category were Rugged Rentals and DropIt Delivery.
Glam Pop, the speciality popcorn maker, won the Vendor of the Year award ahead of fellow nominees Bermuda Cupcake Company and His N Hers Beauty Boutique.
Claiming the Family Business of the Year prize was Ashley’s Lemonade. Burgess Electrical and DeGraff’s Lunch Wagon were also nominated in the family category.
The People’s Choice Award went to His N Hers Hair & Beauty Boutique, the online hair and beauty products business, which finished with 493 votes. Bermuda Cupcake Company finished first runner-up with 301 votes, and Glam Pop was second runner-up on 252 votes.
Lifestyles Co Ltd, the Hamilton gift shop, won the BEDC Client of the Year prize ahead of fellow nominees Linez Barbershop & Apparel and DropIt Delivery.
