The ups and downs of the undulating AXA Man on the Run 5K course did not trouble Chris Estwanik, neither did the intermittent rain as he chalked up his third victory in the men-only event. His finishing time of 15min 35sec was fast but did not trouble the event record of 14:52, which he set six years ago.Estwanik, 39, had been the only athlete to break 17 minutes on the course, which he achieved when winning in 2013, 2016 and this year. However, a second runner breached that barrier this year when Sean Trott, 29, finished runner-up in 16:59.Third across the line was Spencer Butterfield in 17:21.In the junior 2.2km race, it was a trio of Warwick Academy students who filled the top three slots, with Harris Fleming, 10, first in 9:45, followed by Chavi Pacheco Hill, 8, in 10:00, and Michael Schrah, 10, in 10:11.The 5K competitive walk was won by Shinah Simons in 34:59, followed by Joseph Matthew in 35:43, and Junior Watts in 36:47.The AXA Man on the Run 5K raises funds to support local men’s health initiatives. It attracted more than 200 competitors for the adult and junior races, and walk.Other age division winners in the 5K were: Jauza James (14 and under) in 19:45; Tommy Marshall (15-19) 17:39; Jason Adkins (masters) 19:24; Neil de Ste Croix (senior masters) 19:17; Paulo Medeiros (over-60) 23:20; Keith Chiappa (over-70) 28:57.
