First Division leaders Paget Lions got back to winning ways yesterday with 4-1 triumph at Wellington Oval against bottom side Hamilton Parish who remain winless and without a point.
Paget lost to fellow promotion hopefuls Southampton Rangers in the Shield final at the same venue six days earlier but encountered little resistance on the way to their eighth league win of the season against the Hot Peppers, which keeps them two points ahead of second-placed BAA.
BAA boosted their goal difference after coming away 9-3 victors over second from bottom Ireland Rangers at Malabar Field.
Rangers remain thick in the promotion hunt, a point adrift of BAA in third, after edging Devonshire Colts 3-2 at Southampton Oval.
St David’s and Somerset Eagles fell further off the lead pace after playing to a 1-1 stalemate at Lords. Diego McCallan opened the scoring for St David’s in the 18th minute, with college student Nathan Rego equalising in the 73rd.
St George’s earned their fifth win of the season by thrashing Wolves 8-1 at Devonshire Recreation Club.
