Somerset Trojans 3 BAA 3

Justin Corday salvaged a point for winless Somerset Trojans in the final kick of their Premier Division match against BAA at Somerset Cricket Club on Saturday night.

Deep into added time, Corday drilled in an effort from 25 yards which somehow slipped through the fingers of the diving Daniel Johnson in the BAA goal

The Trojans midfielder’s drive denied top-flight newcomers BAA their second win of the season and robbed Tyrell Burgess of a sweet moment having handed the visiting side the lead against his former club in the 88th minute.

Keishen Bean gave BAA the lead in the first minute from the penalty spot, but Trojans pulled level through forward Alton Trott’s low strike from the edge of the box in the twelfth minute. It was Trojans who entered the interval leading after striker Deunte Darrell scored with the final kick of the first period, finding the net from close range.

In the 58th minute BAA were awarded a second penalty by referee Anthony Francis, with Bean stepping up to score his second of the game to give the scoreline parity.

Burgess could have been forgiven for believing he had earned his side a much needed win after powering home a header from Troy Tucker’s corner in the 88th minute, however Corday had other ideas.

Trojans defender Trevin Ming admits it has been a frustrating start of the season for his side. “It was a dramatic finale in the end,” Ming said. “We wanted to get the three points but the draw will have to do.

“There’s been some new additions to the team and they have fitted in pretty well. We’ve just got to keep our heads up.”

Ming said he enjoyed his tussle with former Trojans player Burgess.

“We always have a little duo, making each other on corners,” he said. “I let him get away [for his goal], so I’ll take the blame for that.”
