PHYSICAL ABUSE CENTRE
Services Provided
Referrals: From Police, EAP, Reserve Police, Doctors, Lawyers, walk-ins and Hotline.
Professional Counselling: Qualified (full-time) counsellor. Individual counselling and support group counselling on Wednesdays, 6-7.30 p.m.
Hotline: Operates 24 hours a day. (297-8279).
Shelter: A safe refuse for victims of abuse and their families. The only “Safe House” in Bermuda.
Education: Training on domestic violence for Police and the Reserve Police. Education through presentations to schools, churches and organisations.
Volunteer Programme: The Centre recruits persons who may wish to give of their time and specific skills to assist with the operation of the agency. We presently have 30 active volunteers.
Legal advice: Through Karen Williams-Smith, WRC and outside law firms.
Community service: Food and clothing hamper. Medical attention, employment, housing.
Batterers' programme: Qualfied facilitators. Group counsellors for perpetrators of domestic violence.
