XL Capital appointment
XL Capital has announced the appointment of Dale R Comey to its board of directors. Mr. Comey was formerly executive vice-president at the corporate headquarters of the ITT Corporation, where he was responsible for directing operation of several ITT business units, including ITT Hartford and ITT Financial Corporation. Before that, Mr. Comey was president and chief operating officer of ITT Hartford Fire Insurance Company.
He joined ITT as an actuarial trainee in 1965 after serving in the United States Army.
Michael Esposito Jr., Chairman of the XL Board said: "We welcome the addition of Dale Comey to our board. I believe we will benefit greatly from his experience as we continue to build value for XL's shareholders."

Total Marketing and Communications Ltd

Graham Redford has been appointed managing director of Total Marketing & Communications Limited (TMC), effective January 1.
Making the announcement, president and CEO of TMC Steve Marklew said: "I am particularly pleased to have Graham join Total Marketing & Communications Limited. Over the last two years, TMC has grown to a point where we saw the need to add to our executive management to better serve our clients. Graham has a great deal of experience in the marketing field both domestically and internationally, and will bring with him immense benefits for all of our clients."
Mr. Redford was previously executive vice-president with Total Office Management. He said: "My career to date has encompassed many different facets of business, of which marketing has always played an integral part and I am looking forward to using my experience to assets TMC's clients."
For the past several years, he has has been active within the business community serving on several boards, both charitable and professional, as well as holding executive positions with other Bermudian businesses. He has also worked abroad in the tourism and hospitality industry which adds benefits to the range of services that TMC can now offer its clients. Mr. Redford is also a member of the American Marketing Association and is an associate of the Chartered Institute of Marketing.
La Trattoria opens Airport concession stand
La Trattoria, a restaurant owned by The Little Venice Group, has opened a concession stand upstairs in the departure terminal of the Bermuda International Airport. Offering pizza, subs, beverages and gelato at the moment, the area is being redesigned and will re-open in December when the food and beverage service will be expanded.
