Women still need to break down barriers
Dear Mr Editor,
I would like to wish belated happy International Women’s Day to the women of Bermuda.
International Women’s Day is the day to reflect on the past inequalities that women endured and to celebrate how far we have come.
It is my fervent hope that all women continue to strive for gender balance in all aspects of life, where it is often still thought that women are natural nurturers and men are natural breadwinners. That is where inequalities occur.
Throughout the world and in Bermuda, women still need to break down the barriers that continue to disadvantage them. We need to help each other and to make a difference for the younger generation so they can take their rightful place in society alongside men.
I look forward to a world where all people are judged by their worth and not by their gender.
