Cecoy Robinson has backed his team-mates to overcome the loss of key players during the off-season as they prepare for their opening fixture of the Digicel Premier Division campaign.PHC have lost influential strikers Antwan Russell and Aquino Grant to Robin Hood and Dandy Town respectively, while no reinforcements have come in to replace the pair.Robinson, along with Shakir Smith and Kevin Lambe, will be charged with filling the void left in the goalscoring department. The skipper insists the club have enough quality youngsters from the junior ranks looking to break into the senior team.“The loss of Antwan and Aquino was a blow, it would be a blow to any side because they are both good players but their absence allows other players to come to come to the forefront and show that they are capable of playing at this level,” said Robinson.“They have gone but we have to keep moving and look forward. They have gone and we need to focus on each game and what is needed to get the required results and we should do better than what people think.”Zebras finished eight points off champions Dandy Town last season, but were leading the table before the wheels fell off after Christmas break with a string of poor results putting paid to their title challenge. They boasted the third best attack, but will need to find another scoring avenue in the absence of Russell and Grant.A 4-1 Dudley Eve loss to Somerset Trojans on Tuesday showed that they have some ironing out to do, but they still have time to work on things before opening weekend.“The result didn’t go our way but the main thing is to get some match fitness under our belt and see how far we have come in our preparations, so it was a positive in that regard.“We play again in a few days time so this was good and now we can see what we need to work on and try to fix any issues we have.”“Mistakes costs you in games and that was evident tonight (Tuesday) so we just need to focus on what is in front of us and we should be okay.“It is important for us to stay together and work for one another from now right through to the end and that is what is going to be the basis of our success.”Zebras face Devonshire Cougars at Devonshire Rec in the Premier Division tomorrow night. Kick off is 9pm.
