Production a ‘grand experience’

Walking the boards: Bermuda High School’s production of Chitty Chitty Bang Bang

Being in this year’s school production of Chitty Chitty Bang Bang has been amazing; every time we rehearse on the stage I get a rush of excitement at what goes on around me.

There’s much to think about when doing this play; there are a lot of rehearsals during lunch and after school.

So what happens when you get homework?

Believe me, it is tough to manage everything, but you can always find time to do your work during rehearsals, and I know it is worth it in the end. It is important to always stay positive.

The time and effort put into a school production like Chitty Chitty Bang Bang is phenomenal. I see parents and staff coming in during their lunch hours and after school, putting set pieces together, and costumes and all the other backstage things the audience doesn’t see.

All the effort take a long time, and you really have to be committed when doing your part.

When it all comes together it is magical; like when the sound and tech crew get everyone sorted — that is wonderful work.

Overall, seeing this amazing drama journey start from nothing, to where we are today still amazes me. I love the fact that everyone is important in this play.

Whether you have a principal role, are in the chorus, are a dancer, or part of the backstage crew; this grand experience wouldn’t happen without any of us. Chitty Chitty Bang Bang will be unforgettable.
